The Tower of Ornithology is an observatory for the study of migratory birds.
This project was developed with a multidisciplinary team that documented the natural resources, developed work sessions with community members, and strengthened the tourist industry in this zone of Colombia.
We worked with the Ruta del Agua team to identify key spots to create interventions at. The Tower form Ornithology is located within the misty landscapes of Guavio where indigenous peoples had performed the "corre tierra" ritual, where Espeletia, commonly known as 'frailejones' thrive, where a potato farmer drained a beautiful lake, and where special migratory birds pass by. This is located in a Páramo, which is a rare alpine tundra ecosystem onlu found in the Andes Mountain Range of South America.
This design object is a handcrafted tower that is propped up to allow visitors a protected place to observe birds. A saucer-shaped object (needed to withstand intense winds) floats above an icosahedron to provide shelter from the mizzle.
